BR Bullpen:Templates/Medals table
This is a series of template is used to create a table of national team appearances. It mainly focuses on medals won, although it can be used to any national team appearance. It is "stackable", in that it uses a template to opens and close the table, with templates containing the information between.

- {{medal-bottom}}

How to use[edit]
When placing a medals table on a page it should go after {{Infobox person}} and {{Langbox}}, but before the main text of the article. The templates in this series can be divided into three classes; "headers and footers", "sub-headers", and "competitions". All parameters used in the templates are unnamed and based on position (i.e. Template:Template name).
[edit]
Header and footer templates are used to begin and end the table. Any use of this series requires the use of {{medal-top}} at the beginning of the table and {{medal-bottom}} at the end of the table.
- {{medal-top}} : no parameters
- {{medal-bottom}} : no parameters
Sub-headers[edit]
Sub-header templates are used to subdivide the into different sections, dependent on the nation competing for and the sport competing in. {{medal-sport}} is used to indicate the sport the person competed or was involved in, it is not required if the only baseball is the only sport. {{medal-nation}} is used to indicate the nation (using {{flagcountry}}) and the role of the competitor for that nation. The default role is "Competitor", and any different roles should have the first letter capitalized. {{medal-sport}} goes before {{medal-nation}}.
- {{medal-sport}} : 1 = sport competing in
- {{medal-nation}} : 1 = nation competing for (uses {{flagcountry}}); 2 = role type (usually used to indicate "Coach") [Default=Competitor]

---|---|

{{medal-top}} {{medal-sport|Baseball}} {{medal-nation|CUB}} {{medal-sport|Softball}} {{medal-nation|ITA|Coach}} {{medal-bottom}}
Competitions[edit]
Competition templates are used to indicate the competitions in which the person participated. There are two styles of competition templates; the first uses splits the competitions using headers ("header format") while the second does not ("list format"). In terms of template usage, the former uses {{medal-competition}}, while the latter does not. There are two competition templates; {{medal-compmedalroster}} includes a link to the competition roster, while {{medal-compmedal}} does not.
In "header format", medals are ordered by sport, then by nation, then by competition, then by year, then by event, then by medal color (gold; silver; bronze; other; disqualified). In "list format", medals are ordered by sport, then by nation, then by year, then by competition, then by event, then by medal color (gold; silver; bronze; other; disqualified).
- {{medal-competition}} : 1 = competition header (uses switch, if not listed must be manually wiki-linked)
{{medal-medal}} : 1 = medal color/placing (uses switch); 2 = competition link in the format "year site"- DEPRECIATED- {{medal-compmedal}} : 1 = medal color/placing (uses switch); 2 = competition identifier (uses switch, if not listed must be manually wiki-linked in the format "year competition"); 3 = year of competition
- {{medal-compmedalroster}} : 1 = medal color/placing (uses switch); 2 = competition identifier (uses switch, if not listed must be manually wiki-linked in the format "year competition"); 3 = year of competition - includes link to competition roster if included the switch list
