If you are unsure of a image's copyright status post a link to the image, surrounded by <pre>...</pre> on this page's talk page.

Images without tags will be deleted.

Remember that most images you find on the Web are not public domain, even if they list no explicit copyright information. Images only qualify as being in the public domain if they fall under certain specific categories described below — very old works, works by certain government employees, and works where an explicit disclaimer of copyright has been made in writing by the author.

• {{PD-USA}} - images in the public domain in the United States
• {{PD-USGov}} - images created by the United States government, which cause it to be in the public domain
• {{PD-User}} - the creator of the image releases it in the public domain
  • Parameters: Creator = creator of the image

Free Licenses

Creative Commons

• {{CC-by}} - released under a Creative Commons Attribution License
  • Parameters: Creator = creator of the image
• {{CC-sa}} - released under a Creative Commons Sharealike License
• {{CC-by-sa}} - released under a Creative Commons Attribution-Sharealike License
  • Parameters: Creator = creator of the image

• {{Flickr-by}} - for images from Flickr under an CC Attribution License
  • Parameters: Page = page (http://www.flickr.com/photos/.../...); Photographer = photographer page (http://www.flickr.com/photos/...); User = user name

Fair Use

• {{FairUse}} - generic fair use; reasons would have to be stated
• {{BaseballCard}} - baseball (or other sports card) card image, for use even if the uploader does not own the card or the image of the card; note {{USA-PD}} supercedes this tag
• {{Logo}}- image of as team/league logo for illustration purpopses; reasons would be part of the template
• {{SchoolLogo}} - image of a university athletic team logo for illustration purpopses; reasons would be part of the template
• {{Book}} - image of as book cover for illustration purpopses; reasons would be part of the template
