Debuting for Japan in the 2010 Women's Baseball World Cup opener, 18-year-old third basewoman Ayako Rokkaku went 3 for 3 with 3 RBI in a 5-1 win over two-time champion USA. She went on to hit .611, leading the tournament, and took home the MVP award as Japan won it all. Surprisingly, she failed to be named the All-Star at third; that went to Australia's Christina Kreppold.
