Biographical Information[edit]
Augie Bergamo won a place in the Dave Frishberg song "Van Lingle Mungo". He batted .286 with a .399 OBP as a spare outfielder with the 1944 world championship St. Louis Cardinals. He enjoyed a .316 average with a .401 OBP in 94 games in 1945 but washed out of the big leagues with the return of the large majority of stars following World War II.
