Atsushi Fukaya (深谷 篤)

Biographical Information[edit]
Atsushi Fukaya has been an umpire in Nippon Pro Baseball.
He was a high school classmate of Ichiro Suzuki. An infielder, his team won the 1995 All-Japan University Baseball Championship Series. He played for Mitsubishi Motors in the industrial leagues then became an umpire in the Central League in 2002. He worked the 2009 NPB All-Star Games, 2014 Japan Series, 2017 NPB All-Star Games, 2017 Japan Series, 2019 Premier 12, 2020 Japan Series, 2021 Japan Series, 2022 Japan Series and 2023 World Baseball Classic.
