Ashley Scott Lawson

Biographical Information[edit]

Ash Lawson has been a scout and college coach.

Lawson was an assistant coach at Elon College from 1996-1998, then was interim head coach of Bluefield College in 1999, setting a school record with 29 wins and taking the school to its first conference tournament title. From 2000-2004, he was head coach of his alma mater, Tennessee Wesleyan. He led the team to three straight Appalachian Athletic Conference championships, setting school records for wins each year - 38-20 in 2002, 41-10 in 2003 and 42-16 in 2004. He was named AAC Coach of the Year in 2003.

From 2004-2009, Lawson was an area scout for the San Diego Padres, then was a regional crosschecker for San Diego in 2009-2010. He signed Matt Antonelli, Kyler Burke, Matt Buschmann, Allan Dykstra, Kellen Kulbacki, Jon Link, Donavan Tate, Luis Martinez and Lance Zawadzki. He then was an assistant coach at the University of Tennessee from August 2010 to December 2011. He then joined the New York Mets as a special assignment scout.
