Biographical Information[edit]
Art Shires gave himself his nickname, "The Great," and was one of the more notorious players of the late 1920s, getting into fights, boasting, and engaging in boxing and/or wrestling activities in the offseason.
In his final season, he also managed the Harrisburg Senators in the New York-Pennsylvania League. The team finished in 6th place with a record of 59-77.
