Art Hagan went 2-18 during two seasons in the majors. He was 20 and 21 years old at the time.

"Back in 1883 - August 21, to be exact - the Philadelphia Nationals traveled up to Providence to play the famous Grays. Charley Radbourne, one of the greatest pitchers of all time, worked for the New England team, while Hagan, a recruit, was on the hill for the Quakers. The mists of antiquity have submerged the biography of young Hagan, and his battery partner, Gross, but they hold a record made that day which has never been equaled - and we believe never will be. Collectively they miscued nineteen times, Hagan being the offender on eleven occasions, while Gross erred eight times." - Baseball Magazine, August 4, 1914, making its own error since Hagan is shown as only making nine errors all season in 1883
