Biographical Information[edit]
Art Fairchild lettered four years in football and three years in baseball at Maryville College, also lettering in basketball and wrestling. [1] He was a graduate asssistant at Indiana in 1963, when he was hired as head baseball coach and assistant football coach at Georgetown College, where he stayed from 1964-1965. [2]
Fairchild was head coach of Shippensburg University of Pennsylvania from 1966-1986 and 1988-1995 (taking a sabbatical in 1987). He was 662-360-8 and took the team to the 1977 Division II College World Series and 1991 Division II College World Series. In 1993, he was the first Division II coach named to the Louisville Slugger College Baseball Coaches Advisory Board.
