Biographical Information[edit]
Art Corcoran suited up for a big league nine just once, during the disastrous 1915 voyage of the Philadelphia Athletics. Getting a start at third base on September 9th, he was 0-for-4 with 2 strikeouts against Ernie Shore and the Boston Red Sox. Art was spotted playing the hot corner in the Virginia League years later, between 1920 and 1921.
Art's professional football career lasted longer than his big league baseball career. Art played in the NFL and the precursor to the NFL.[1] He attended St. John's Preparatory High School in Danvers, MA, and was at Georgetown University as well as Fordham University, including in the year after he played major league baseball. [2] He served as an aviator in World War I. [3] He co-coached the 1932 College of the Holy Cross football team. [4] He was one of the co-founders of the Gridiron Club of Greater Boston. [5]
