Around the horn
Around the horn usually refers to infielders throwing the ball around the infield after an out has been recorded. The concept derives from ships doing a big semicircle around Cape Horn. It was originally done in baseball, says one source, so that infielders could scuff up the ball before returning it to the pitcher.
