Arnoldo Muñoz played for many years in Nicaragua's amateur league and for the Nicaraguan national team.
Muñoz was 3 for 17 with a double, walk and 8 strikeouts as a middle infielder for Nicaragua in the 1978 Amateur World Series. He played in the 1983 Intercontinental Cup and 1983 Pan American Games (.306 for the Silver Medalists). In the 1984 Amateur World Series, Arnoldo hit .237/.293/.263 as Nicaragua's shortstop, fielding .894. He played in the 1984 Olympics, 1985 Intercontinental Cup and 1986 Central American Games (winning Gold) as well. He went 6 for 11 in the 1987 Pan American Games.
In Nicaragua through 2008, Muñoz ranked among the all-time leaders in hits (1,320, 10th), steals (247, 2nd), triples (43, 3rd) and strikeouts (1,039, 1st).
