Biographical Information[edit]
Archie Osborne pitched in the minor leagues from 1907 to 1916. Seasons of note include 1909, when he went 19-6 in 30 games for the East Liverpool Potters and in 1914, when he went 17-7 in 34 games for the Waterbury Contenders. In his final campaign, 1916, he went 9-4 with a 1.62 ERA in 16 games for the St. Marys Saints. He could swing the bat, as well, hitting .349 in 152 at-bats for the Lima Cigarmakers in 1911 and .292 in 96 at-bats for the Contenders.
He also managed a few seasons. In 1908, he managed the Charleroi Cherios to a 56-53 record. He led the Charleroi Cherubs/Parkersburg Parkers to begin 1909, but was replaced by Frank McHale. In 1909, he also led the Potters, but was eventually replaced by John Raley. In 1911, he replaced Frank Nesser of the Lima Cigarmakers partway through the campaign. In 1913, he managed the Ironton Nailers, replacing Al McClintock partway through the year.
