Defensively he played mostly at first base and third base. Overall Villa hit .276/.397/.468 while appearing in 187 games.
In 2019 Villa started his transition to coaching when he served as a player/coach for the AZL Rangers. He was scheduled to move into a full-time coaching role with the Aberdeen IronBirds in 2020 before the coronavirus pandemic caused the cancellation of the minor league system. Villa remained in the Baltimore Orioles organization in 2021 in the dual capacity of FCL Orioles Black hitting coach and as the Orioles' minor league complex hitting coordinator. In 2022 Villa was the minor league lower-level hitting coordinator. He received a promotion in 2023 to minor league hitting coordinator. After just one season in this role, the Orioles promoted him again in 2024 to Director of Player Development.
