Biographical information[edit]

Anito Encarnacion is a former minor league baseball catcher who played from 1991 to 1993 and 1995 in the San Diego Padres and California Angels farm systems.

Originally signed by the Padres on May 21, 1990, Encarnacion began his professional career in 1991 with the AZL Padres, where he hit .355 with two home runs and 11 RBI in 93 at-bats. The following season - this time splitting his season between the AZL Padres and Spokane Indians - he hit a combined .345 in 174 at-bats, with one home run and 26 RBI.

In 1993, his career quickly turned sour, however, as he hit only .151 in 106 at-bats with the Waterloo Diamonds and Rancho Cucamonga Quakes. He missed all of 1994, and wound up in the Angels farm system in 1995 - his final season in affiliated American baseball. There, in 42 games as a back-up, he hit only .209 with no home runs and six RBI in 86 at-bats.

Overall, Encarnacion finished his career with a .277 batting average in 150 minor league games. He hit a total of four home runs, and he drove in 54 runs.
