Angelo L. Gust

Angelo Gust was a college coach.

Gust played fullback and linebacker in college. He was a special education teacher and kindergarten teacher in Detroit, MI for decades. He became a coach in football and basketball at the high school level. He began working as a baseball coach from 1974-1979 as assistant at Wayne State University and from 1976-1978 at Harper Woods Notre Dame High School.

Gust was head coach at Wayne State from 1980-1988, going 174-151-2 and retiring as the school's all-time leader in wins and winning percentage. He set a school record for wins in a season by going 29-16 in 1982. He was named Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Coach of the Year in 1980, 1981 and 1982. He has also been a college and high school basketball official.
