Biographical Information[edit]
Andy Slight was a minor league catcher who appeared as a phantom major leaguer on the Chicago White Sox roster in 1914 but never got into a major league game after suffering a shoulder injury during a game in Tokyo, Japan during the White Sox World Tour of 1913-14. Despite the injury, he went to spring training with the Sox that year and stayed on their active roster until at least mid-June of 1914. In 1915, he joined the Milwaukee Brewers of the American Association.
Slight was also apparently a really talented singer and performed in various places during the World Tour. He caught the attention of Polish singer Jean de Reszke, who suggested potentially performing music as a career for the ballplayer but, Slight never followed through with it.
