Biographical Information[edit]

Relief pitcher Andrew Walter began his professional career in 2011.

He was originally drafted out of high school by the Detroit Tigers in the 31st round of the 2009 amateur draft, but opted not to sign. After a couple years in college, he was signed as a free agent by the Houston Astros. The scout was Mike Brown.

In his first pro campaign, he had a 2.70 ERA in 13 1/3 innings; the next year, his mark was 2.28 ERA in 15 games -- he also struck out 33 batters in 23 2/3 frames. He was a New York-Penn League Mid-Season All-Star in 2013 after going 2-0 with a 1.66 ERA in 20 games in 2013. He had 12 saves, a 9.2 K/9 IP ratio and a 3.46 ERA in 40 games in 2014.

He was suspended for a banned substance prior to the start of the 2015 campaign.
