Andres Vazquez has played for the Philippines national team.
Vazquez spent 3 years at Seton Hall Prep then transferred to JFK High, where he hit .494 with 43 RBI and 41 runs as a senior. He also struck out 25 in 13 innings pitched. He tied the school record for runs in a season. He was redshirted as a college freshman at Rutgers University in New Jersey and had one hit in four plate appearances in 2012, used mostly as a defensive sub at 1B. As his mother is Filipino, Vazquez played for the Philippines in the 2013 World Baseball Classic Qualifiers. He went 1 for 5 with 3 runs and 2 RBI, being used at DH. He then transferred to Palm Beach Atlantic University in West Palm Beach, Florida, hitting .270 with a .394 OBP as a redshirt sophomore in 2013.
