Biographical Information[edit]

When he made his major league debut for the San Diego Padres on July 12, 2019, pitcher Andres Munoz was only the fourth major leaguer to be born in 1999 or later. Having preceded him were Elvis Luciano and Vladimir Guerrero Jr. of the Toronto Blue Jays, and teammate Fernando Tatis Jr. He appeared in 22 games, all in relief, going 1-1, 3.91 with 1 save and striking out 30 batters in 23 innings. It was a promising start to his major league career, but before the 2020 season could start, he had to undergo Tommy John surgery while baseball was on pause during the Coronavirus pandemic. He was not expected to return before mid-2021 at best but on August 30th was still traded to the Seattle Mariners as part of a seven-player deal, joining IF Ty France, C Luis Torrens and OF Taylor Trammell in heading to the Pacific Northwest in return for C Austin Nola and Ps Austin Adams and Dan Altavilla.
