Biographical Information

Álvaro López gave up two runs (one earned) in 7 IP against the Dominican national team for the Nicaraguan national team in the 1999 Pan American Games; he left with a 2-2 tie and Diego Sandino won it in relief. López allowed 10 hits and 5 runs in 2 1/3 IP for Nicaragua in the 2001 Baseball World Cup; only Julio Raudez pitched worse for the Nicaraguan squad. He helped Nicaragua take Gold at the 2001 Central American Games and remained with them for the 2002 Central American and Caribbean Games. Alvaro is back with Nicaragua in the 2009 Baseball World Cup.
