Biographical Information[edit]

Allen "Bullet Ben" Benson played in the majors in 1934. An article in the September 1962 Baseball Digest says that super scout Joe Cambria brought him from the House of David to the 1934 Senators. A Lee Allen article appearing in The Complete Armchair Book of Baseball called it "mostly a stunt". Benson had played several years in the minors, including Akron in 1929 where he went 12-7. With Harrisburg in 1935, he apparently went 8-9 as a pitcher and hit over .300 as a batter. After baseball, he became a farmer.
