Biographical Information[edit]

Alfred Burch pitched in the Philadelphia Athletics system from 1947 to 1950 and from 1953 to 1954. He had three seasons of note. In 1948, he went 18-9 with 26 complete games and a 2.84 ERA in 39 games for the Red Springs Red Robins. In 1949, he went 20-6 with 16 complete games, 6 shutouts and a 2.47 ERA in 31 games for the Savannah Indians. In 1953, he went 14-13 with 15 complete games and a 3.26 ERA in 39 games (27 starts) for Savannah. Overall, he went 65-48 in 187 games. He was solid at the plate, hitting .291 in 475 at-bats.

He served in the U.S. military during the Korean War.
