Alfonso Ilivanes Mulens

Alfonso Ilivanes pitched 11 seasons in the Cuban Serie Nacional. With Guantánamo in 1978-1979, he led the league with 13 hit batsmen. His 19 appearances in 1979-1980 tied for the lead. He had a big season for Guantánamo in 1980-1981, leading the circuit in wins (10, tied with Rogelio García), innings (118 2/3), starts (15, tied with Braudilio Vinent) and hit allowed (113, tied with Vinent). He led with 11 hit batsmen in 1981-1982; in the Cuban All-Star Game that year, he was the winning pitcher. He pitched for the Cuban national team in the 1982 Central American Games, with a 3.00 ERA and no decisions (Cuba got a rare Silver Medal for that era). In 1983-1984, Alfonso threw 15 complete games to tie Félix Núñez and Luis Armenteros for the league lead.

Overall, in 11 seasons, he was 87-101 with a 3.68 ERA. In 1,493 1/3 IP, he struck out 790, walked 481 and allowed 1,547 hits. He pitched 286 games, 186 of them starts.
