Biographical information[edit]
Alexi Casilla was signed by scout Leo Perez for the Anaheim Angels in 2003. He made his pro debut that summer for the DSL Angels, then came stateside in 2004. Alexi moved to the Minnesota Twins for LOOGY J.C. Romero, reaching the bigs in 2006 and seeing irregular regular action in 2008, batting a career best .281/.333/.374 with 7 of his career 12 home runs in 98 games. His bat prohibited him from ever holding down a firm regular gig (career line just .247/.302/.331), seeing utility work in the Twin Cities and Baltimore until 2014. After the bigs, he was a constant presence with the Atlantic League's York Revolution from 2017 to 2019.
Perhaps the highlight of his career came on October 6, 2009, when in the American League Central tie-breaker game, he hit a game-winning single off Detroit Tigers pitcher Fernando Rodney in the bottom of the 12th inning, scoring Carlos Gomez and sending the Twins to the playoffs.
