Biographical Information

Alexander Penalo played in the Boston Red Sox minor league system from 2002-2004. He spent 2002 with the DSL Red Sox. In 2003, he played for the GCL Red Sox, hitting a fine .305/.370/.402 but fielding only .881 as their main shortstop. In 2004, he played for the GCL Red Sox again (.294/.341/.341 in 22 G), the Lowell Spinners (5 for 36, 2 2B, 11 K) and Sarasota Red Sox (7 for 40, 3B, 5 BB), struggling in his two A stops. He fielded .896 at 2B and .909 at SS for the year.
