Biographical Information[edit]

In 2005, Alex Sanchez became the first major leaguer suspended for steroid use. He was suspended 10 days without pay, a fine totaling approximately $32,787. His suspension defied the common belief that only sluggers used steroids, as he was devoid of power and once stole 52 bases in a season.
