Biographical Information[edit]
Alex Mustaikis played only one season in the majors, but had a long minor league career, stretching from 1933 to 1949.
In the majors in 1940, he was a 31-year-old rookie pitcher, appearing in 6 games for a total of 15 innings with the Boston Red Sox. Joe Cronin, the player/manager, was only two years older. Jimmie Foxx, the veteran first baseman appearing in his 16th year in the majors, was one year older.
He played for the 1933 Tyler Governors and for the Toronto Maple Leafs in 1940. He was with the Williamsport Crosscutters in 1941 and 1942.
In his final season, he played for the Quebec Braves in 1949.
Sometimes he played under the name "Al Martin".
