Biographical Information[edit]
Alex MacKay was one of 19 umpires to make their major league debut in 2020. The number was inflated due to a number of veteran umpires sitting out the year due to the coronavirus pandemic. Of the 19, MacKay saw the least action, working just 4 games, the first coming on August 21st, and none being as the home plate umpire. All four games were in the Central divisions.
He attended the MiLB Umpire Academy and worked in the Florida Instructional League, Pioneer League, Florida State League, Southern League and Pacific Coast League. He officiated the 2018 Southern League All-Star Game in Birmingham, AL.
His hometown is Evergreen, CO.
