Biographical Information[edit]
Alex DeJesús played two seasons in the minors.
He was on the Puerto Rican national team that won the Bronze Medal in the 1979 Pan American Games and also was with them for the 1980 Amateur World Series. He split 1981 between the Montreal Expos' West Palm Beach Expos (.186/.271/.186 in 14 G) and Memphis Chicks (.208/.315/.377 in 30 G) affiliates. In 1982, he batted .249/.353/.346 for the San Jose Expos, splitting 1B with Paul Hertzler and also being used at DH regularly. He led Expos farmhands with 12 times hit-by-pitch (one ahead of Hertzler, interestingly enough) and also led the California League (again just ahead of Hertzler).
Alex was named the MVP, Home Run King and Best Hitter in the 1982 Haarlem Baseball Week.
