Alessandro Ularetti made his Italian Baseball League debut in 2009.

He was with Italy for the 2006 World Junior Championship. In the 2007 European Junior Championship, he allowed 3 runs in 3 2/3 IP and went 1-0 for the Gold Medalists; he went 2 for 2 at the plate with a run and a RBI. In 2008, he played for Latina BC in Serie A2 and was 3-0 with 7 saves and a 1.12 ERA, striking out 62 in 48 innings. He also hit .341/.413/.355 as a part-time shortstop. When the club suffered financial problems, he was sold to Fortitudo Bologna in December 2008. He was on Italy's provisional roster for the 2009 World Baseball Classic but did not make the final cut.

In the 2009 European Cup Matino phase, Ularetti tossed one scoreless inning, walking one. Ularetti debuted in the Italian Baseball League on April 11, striking out 3 and allowing one hit in two scoreless innings to close out his team's loss to Parma.
