Biographical Information[edit]
Aleš Navrátil has played in the Czech Extraliga. He played for the Czech national team in the 1996 B-Level European Championship, leading in average and helping the Czechs qualify for their first European Championship, the 1997 European Championship (he also played in that event). In the 2001 European Championship, he was 1 for 3 with a walk, 2 runs and a RBI. In the 2003 Extraliga season (the first for which stats are presently available online), Navrátil hit .325/.406/.412. He coached for the Czech team in the 2003 European Championship. In 2004, the 30-year-old batted .305/.413/.457 for MZLU Brno. He tied Jakub Malik and Martin Veselý for 8th in the league in total bases (48), tied for 3rd in walks (20) and tied for 8th in runs (23).
During the 2005 campaign, Navrátil produced at a .357/.407/.492 clip with 34 runs in 31 games. He was 4th in the circuit in hits (45) and total bases (62) and tied Michal Kočí for third in runs. He coached for the Czech national team in the 2005 Baseball World Cup but did not play for them. In 2006, Aleš slipped to .277/.329/.328 but still tied for 7th in hits (38) and was 5th in RBI (23). The next year, he batted .244/.305/.345 and managed to tie Michal Břeň for 9th in hits (29); he also tied for 7th in total bases (41) and was 4th in runs (26 in 28 games). In the 2007 European Championship, he hit .368/.400/.421, leading the Czech team in average and slugging and finishing second in OBP behind Jan Drábek.
Navrátil hit .329/.373/.378 for the Arrows Ostrava in 2008 at age 34. He tied for third in the circuit in hits (47). In the 2008 European Championship Qualifiers, he was 3 for 9 with a walk, two runs and two RBI.
