Biographical Information

Pitcher Alberto Castillo was a 33 year old rookie in 2008. He defected from Cuba in 1993 and spent many years in the independent leagues before latching on with the Baltimore Orioles, with whom he debuted. In four big league seasons (2008 to 2011), he finished 3-0 with a 4.33 ERA in 79 games (60 1/3 innings) as a LOOGY.
