Biographical Information[edit]

Alberto Carreón has played in the Mexican League and for the Mexican national team.

He debuted in 2009, hitting .186/.280/.279 as a backup utility infielder for the Pericos de Puebla. The next year, he improved to .277/.320/.313 while playing mostly in the outfield. He batted .278/.350/.361 in 2011 and .308/.374/.410 in '12, when he became Puebla's main second sacker. In 2013, he hit .305/.382/.441 with 74 runs in 91 games for the Pericos, playing mainly shortstop and outfield. He made his Mexican Pacific League debut by producing at a .242/.317/.379 clip for the Venados de Mazatlán.

In 2014, he hit .333/.400/.504 with 29 doubles and 86 runs in 105 games for Puebla, fielding .952 at short. He tied former major leaguer Willy Taveras for 5th in runs and tied Chris Roberson and Gilberto Mejia for 8th in doubles. In the winter, he played for the Venados (.247/.289/.286 in 28 G) and Charros de Jalisco (0 for 3). He hit .277/.355/.416 in 2015, tying for 4th in the LMB with five triples. He fielded .965 at SS. He hit .282/.357/.395 in 2016. With Jalisco that winter, he was at .191/.314/.381.

Carreón's 2017 batting line for the Pericos was .317/.357/.408. He was one run shy of Taveras for the 10th spot on the leaderboard, scoring 76 times. He hit .261/.325/.348 in the winter. The Mexican League went to a split format in 2018. He split the summer season between Puebla (.275/.353/.353 in 39 G) and the Acereros de Monclova (.323/.354/.371 in 15 G) then hit .327/.376/.451 for Puebla in the fall season. He was the starting second baseman for Mexico in the 2018 Central American and Caribbean Games but had a rough tournament, going 3 for 19 with a walk and a RBI in six games, fielding .962. [1] For Jalisco in the winter, he batted .200/.304/.425 as a back-up.

During 2019, he hit .291/.355/.393 with 23 doubles and 79 runs in 108 games for the Pericos. He followed with a .254/.313/.339 winter for Jalisco. The 2020 Mexican League season was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. When baseball returned to Mexico in the winter of 2020-2021, he was now with the Sultanes de Monterrey, batting .288/.316/.399. He hit .317/.366/.402 for the 2021 Pericos. In 2021-2022, he batted .269/.354/.385 for Monterrey. To that point, he had hit .292 as a pro.
