Biographical Information[edit]
Albert Williams, known as Al Williams in his playing days, fought as a Sandinista guerrilla in the Nicaraguan Civil War, missing the 1976-1978 seasons. In 1979, he pitched for two teams in the Inter-American League, leading the short-lived circuit in strikeouts with 52. By May of 1980, he was in the major leagues, pitching for the Minnesota Twins.
