Alan Phillips (South Africa02)
Alan C. Phillips
Biographical Information[edit]
Alan Phillips was the starting shortstop for the South African national team in the 1998 Baseball World Cup. He hit .263/.391/.421 and fielded .905. He led the team in OPS and tied for the lead in runs (3, even with Jason Cook) and RBI (3, even with Nick Dempsey). Despite the fine performance, he did not apparently play for South Africa again. Oddly, one of his teammates was also named Alan Phillips, a more prominent figure in South African baseball.
