Alain Usereau

Alain Usereau is a broadcaster who teams with Marc Griffin on major league baseball broadcasts on Réseau des Sports.

Usereau began working with Société Radio-Canada as a radio journalist in 1996, specializing in sports. He held various positions in radio around Quebec, forging a reputation as one the most knowledgeable baseball commentators in the province. His first field of study was mathematics, which he studied at Université de Sherbrooke from 1982 -1986 before getting a degree in journalism from Laval University. His mathematics background means that he is well-versed in sabermetrics and had been one of the leaders in spreading its concepts in French.

He obtained his current job with RDS in 2011, and has been a commentator on both regular season and postseason broadcasts. He has also been a broadcaster on Olympics telecasts in 2012 and 2016 for sports other than baseball. He worked the 2020 Tokyo Olympics as the baseball commentator, teaming up with Griffin, himself a former Olympian.

Besides his work as a journalist, he has appeared as an actor in a number of movies and television series in Quebec, in small roles. He has won the SABR trivia challenge, held at its annual convention, on a number of occasions, and is the author of a history of the 1980s Montreal Expos.
