Biographical Information[edit]

Alaín Álvarez played three seasons for Cienfuegos. He hit .286/.368/.398 as a rookie in 2002-2003 but slipped to .243/.314/.341 in 2003-2004, fielding .951 in the outfield. His playing time dropped and he hit .272/.352/.309, fielding .949 in 2004-2005 while playing 1B, RF and LF. Overall, he hit .266/.345/.360 in 207 games in Cuba, with 63 runs and 44 RBI in 578 AB. He fielded .950. He succeeded Jesús Gómez as manager of Cienfuegos for 2018-2019, going 16-28 his first year. The team went 28-17 in the first half of 2019-2020 to qualify for the second half. They slipped to 18-27 in the second half and missed the playoffs.
