Biography[edit]
Al Naples was at Georgetown University from 1946-1949 and came to the majors for a couple of games with the St. Louis Browns in June 1949 at age 22. The regular shortstop that year for the Browns was Eddie Pellagrini although John Sullivan appeared in almost as many games at short.
The book One Hit Wonders has a chapter on him. He was a Latin major in college. In his first game, he batted against Mel Parnell, who would win 25 games that year, and hit a double off him.
After his two games, he was sent to Springfield and then released by the Browns after the 1949 season. Wichita Falls signed him then.
