Biographical Information[edit]
Al McCauley played in the majors in 1884 and 1890-1891. Although he played only one year in the National League, he got most of his major league at-bats that year. Primarily a first baseman, he also pitched 10 games in 1884. He umpired one National League game in 1890. His pro career ran from 1884 to 1897.
One site says that McCauley in 1891 had a game wherein he had no chances at first base in an entire nine-inning game, a rare event.
