The Agropecuarios played in the Series Selectivas from 1986-1993. In 1986, they were 24-39, 7th of 8 teams. They improved one game to 25-38 and a tie for 6th in 1987. In 1988, the Agropecuarios finished last at 23-40. They had a 7th-place, 24-37 record in 1989 and jumped to 38-25 and third place in 1990. That year, key performers included hit leader Gerardo Miranda (63), RBI leader Romelio Martínez (64) and ERA champion José Ibar (2.20).

In 1991, the club fell to 5th at 29-34, still good for their second-best finish. Pedro Luis Rodríguez led the league with a .380 average while Romelio Martínez led with 20 homers and 57 RBI. They were 7th at 27-36 in 1992 though Rodríguez led the league with 19 doubles.

They placed last once more in their final campaign, 1993. Victor Mesa led the league with 15 steals. Another notable name was Rolando Arrojo, one of the first major Cuban defectors.
