Adelano Rivera

Adelano Rivera was a Filipino outfielder who caught the attention of the Yomiuri Giants when they toured his homeland in 1939. The Giants signed Rivera and he played with the club that season, hitting .268/.326/.409. Despite considerably better-than-league-average slugging, Rivera did not return the next season. Drafted into the army of The Philippines, he was killed in combat there during World War II.
