The Toronto Blue Jays drafted Westlake in the 22nd round of the 2010 Amateur Draft, but he opted to return to Vanderbilt for his senior season while also completing his degree in Financial Management. He then made the All-Tournament team for the 2011 Southeastern Conference Tournament at first base. During his four years he earned All-American, All-SEC, and Academic All-SEC honors. Westlake was also part of Vanderbilt’s first College World Series appearance in 2011.
Westlake was drafted a second time by the Detroit Tigers in the 3rd round of the 2011 Amateur Draft and he played in their minor league system from 2011-2014. He played first base in the pros starting with the short-season Connecticut Tigers and ending with the AA Erie SeaWolves. Over his four minor league seasons Westlake hit .255/.316/.406 while appearing in 368 games.
After the completion of his playing career, Westlake was a co-owner of Driven Elite Fitness and Health for several years. In 2020 he also founded Driven Elite Baseball.
In 2020 the Arizona Diamondbacks hired Westlake part-time in their player development system. This job was short-lived due to COVID-19 shutting down the minor league season. Westlake joined the Houston Astros organization in June, 2021 as Development Coach for the FCL Astros. He was then hitting coach of the Corpus Christi Hooks in 2022 and Sugar Land Space Cowboys in 2023-2024.
