APBA

From BR Bullpen

APBA is a tabletop baseball simulation game created in 1951 in Lancaster, PA by Richard Seitz. The initials stand for "American Professional Baseball Association". It is played with a series of printed cards representing individual players, activated by the roll of two die. New card sets are introduced each year, covering the last completed season, and historical sets are also available. While baseball was the first sport covered, the company also manufactures sets for football, hockey, basketball, soccer and golf. While designed for two players, the game can also be played solo.

The player cards are designed to reflect realistic game outcomes, but contrary to other similar games, cards cannot be readily produced by users.

In 2022, the company experimented with providing users, via subscription, with a set of online cards for the present season, updated as it progressed. The company headquarters moved to Alpharetta, GA in 2011.
