Biographical Information

First baseman/outfielder A.J. Van Slyke is the son of former All-Star Andy Van Slyke and older brother of outfielder Scott Van Slyke. A.J. was drafted by the St. Louis Cardinals in the 23rd round of the 2005 Amateur Draft. He spent all four seasons of his professional career in the Cardinals chain, accumulating averages of .273/.332/.386.
