50-50 club
The 50-50 club was created on September 19, 2024 when Shohei Ohtani became the first player ever to hit 50 home runs and collect 50 stolen bases in the same season. It was a feat that most observers thought to be unattainable, as only six players, including Ohtani himself earlier that same season, had ever had a 40-40 season. Ohtani finished the year with 54 homers and 55 stolen bases. Even joining the 30-30 club is considered a major achievement reserved for only an elite group of players.
