History, Comments, Contributions[edit]

The 1932 Newark Browns were briefly members of the East-West League, losing all four of their games in their short existence. The big name was player-manager John Beckwith, who was 3 for 8 with a double, homer and four RBI while 3B Harry Jeffries was 3 for 9 with 3 RBI and RF Gilbert Coleman 2 for 9 with a dinger. Ping Gardner was actually their best starting pitcher despite a 0-2, 8.71 record (48 ERA+). They had a team OPS+ of 34 and team ERA+ of 40, both clearly last in the loop.
