Not only was this record still standing 12 decades later, but the hardly any team had approached it, with the post 1900 record being set by the 2021 Cincinnati Reds, with 105, until passed by the 2022 New York Mets. The Orioles had made reaching base on a HBP part of their modus operandi, with SS Hughie Jennings a master at the craft, getting plunked 46 times.
