Biographical Information[edit]
No-one knows if this makes Óscar Villarreal unique, but he struck out a batter with the very first pitch of his career. It came when he replaced the injured Bret Prinz with a 1-2 count on opposite pitcher Hideo Nomo. It was the only pitch that Villarreal threw that day.
Villarreal allowed one run in five innings in five games for the Mexican national team in the 2008 Americas Baseball Cup, being used as a set-up man for Rafael Diaz. He helped Mexico advance to the 2009 Baseball World Cup.
