You Are Not Alone Cameron Maybin
Posted by Steve Lombardi on August 18, 2007
At the age of 20 years and 140 days old, Camron Maybin played his first big league game last night - and whiffed twice in the contest. How many other players, since 1957, have played their first major league game before they were 20 years and 5 months old, and struck out twice in the contest? Thanks to Baseball-Reference.com's Play Index Batting Gamelog Finder, we know the answer:

Of all those names above, the one that hits this Yankees fan the most is Ted Wilborn. Born Thaddeaus Inglehart Wilborn, Ted was drafted by the Yankees in 1976, lost to the Blue Jays in the 1978 Rule V Draft, was then traded back to New York in November 1979 by the Blue Jays with Rick Cerone and Tom Underwood to the Yankees for Chris Chambliss, Damaso Garcia, and Paul Mirabella. And, then, in March of 1982, Wilburn was traded by New York (with Andy McGaffigan) to the San Francisco Giants for Doyle Alexander (for Doyle's second tour of duty in New York).
Somehow, I think Maybin's career track will take a different path from Wilborn's journey.
